"EEEEEK!" they both shouted, and frantically ran away. However, despite the fact that the turtle moved ever so slowly, Anna and Katie were so frightened they cornered themselves against a section of the house. Luckily for them, the turtle didn’t attack them, it just…STOPPED!…one foot in front of them, still nibbling on some leafy twigs.
“What do you think it wants?” asked Katie.
“I don’t know,” replied Anna, “but wouldn’t it be fun if we could ride it?!”
“Yeah!” shouted Katie, her eyes large with excitement. Slowly the two held out their hands to pet the giant turtle, which seemed to enjoy their touch. The turtle was a little bit slimy, but not too much. The two slowly stepped on top of the giant turtle and sat down---Anna in front and Katie just behind. They both had to balance themselves on the shell, but since the turtle didn’t move that fast, it wasn’t too difficult.
